Glenn J. Ackerman, 79, of Carmel, died there at 10:25 AM Saturday, May 8, 1999. He was a former Lafayette resident. Mr. Ackerman was a pharmaceutical salesman for the South Bend Drug Co. for 11 years, retiring in 1990. He formerly worked for Mooney, Meuller and Ward Drug Co. in Indianapolis for 40 years.
Born Feb. 27, 1920, in Madison, Mr. Ackerman had lived in Carmel for the past 24 years. He formerly lived in Delphi and Lafayette. Mr. Ackerman married Bertha E. Harris, and she preceded him in death in 1956. He married Ruth Ann Fleming Zehring on March 1, 1957, in Carmel, and she survives.
Mr. Ackerman was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Carmel Golden K Kiwanis and the American Legion Post 155 in Carmel. He served in the Navy during World War II as a chief pharmacist mate.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Michael F. Ackerman of Carmel, Glen J. "Joe" Ackerman, Jr. of Lacy, WA, and Scott T. Ackerman of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mary Ackerman McKay and Margaret Ackerman, both of Lafayette; a stepson, Steven J. Zehring of Carmel; two stepdaughters, Vicky Zehring Walkey of Carmel and Judy Zehring Stene of Lakewood, CO; 10 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Services May 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi; internment St. Joseph Cemetery, Delphi.
