William was born to Harry and Sarah Calhoun. He was founder and former senior partner of the law firm of Calhoun, Kademenos, Heichel and Childress Co. L.P.A., receiving his undergraduate degree in 1936 and his Juris Doctorate in 1938 from The Ohio Stat University. He began practicing law in Columbus, Ohio in 1939 and remained there until 1942, when he becamo a special agent for the FBI. In 1945 he was assigned to Mansfield and in 1946, after leaving the FBI he resumed his law practice, associating with Earl Garr in Mansfield. He was a member of the Fifty-One Club and Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, F. & A.M.; Richland County Borad of Elections from 1956-1964, was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Richland Trust Company and was President of the Richland County Bar Association, and the American Judicature Society and practiced in all state courts and federal courts of Ohio, He served on the Board of Directors of Gorman Rupp co. for 34 years; and Board of Trustees of North Central Techinical College; Chairman of Mansfield University Foundation; Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association; Chairman of the Richland County Democratic Party; member of Westbook Country Club for 56 years and the Wednesday Night Golf League for 30 years. He also taught Sunday school for 50 years at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Aurviving are his wife Pearl Beach Calhoun (She has since past away in 2006); son-in-law Robert Burdt of Ca.; daughter-in-law Nancy Calhoun of Orlando, Fl.; five grandchildren, William (Pargie) of Ca., Alussa (Steven) Kelly of Utah, Elizabeth (Robert) Rahter of Orlando, Fl., James Curtis (La Tisha) of Ca., Holly Calhoun of D.C.; six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son James, daughter Florence Ann, two ssters and a brother.
