Ronald Darrel McDowell, 55, of Fairmount Township, Kan., passed away March 19, 2016, at his home with his family by his side. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor, Kan. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the service also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

Ronnie was born Dec. 13, 1960, in Kansas City, Kan., and was the youngest of three sons born to J.D. and Lyvone McDowell. He was a lifelong Bookbinder who enjoyed Harley's, mushroom hunting and his grandson, M.J. He was the Bassist in "The FairMounters" Bluegrass Group with his brothers, "He was known as one of the best showman in the business" and he was also known to put a smile on everyone's face no matter the situation. Another thing he enjoyed was spending countless hours in his garden.

Survivors include wife, Cindy McDowell of the home; parents, J.D. and Lyvone McDowell of Rockport, Texas; three sons, Matt, J.D. and Cody McDowell, all of Kansas City, two step sons, Michael and Anthony Eisele, one grandson, M.J. McDowell ; four step-grandchildren, Mikayla, Anthony, Kelsey and Kameron; two brothers, Randy and wife Robin McDowell and Ricky McDowell, all of Fairmount Township, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
