Survivors include sons, Paul Bates, Jr. & wife, Lucille, Culpeper, VA, Thomas Bates, Hamptonville, NC, and David Bates, Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Mary Beshears Michael, Virginia Beshears Foster, Viola Beshears Bustle, Cynthia Beshears Mahaffey, & Debbie Beshears Roten; brothers, Marvin, Neal, & Kenneth Beshears; grandchildren, Paul William Bates, Deborah L. Hollowell, Charles E. Bates, Tonya Catherine Bates, Michael Todd Vestal, & Jennifer Lynn Bates, and ten great-grandchildren. Interment in the Church graveyard followed services conducted Sunday, January 8, 2006.
