Judy was born January 19, 1942 to Sara (Allen) and W. S. Day. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with her Bachelor’s Degree in English with the goal to teach.
But while traveling to Cape Cod she met Paul Bissinger and the couple celebrated their 51 years of marriage last year.
Judy was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and bake for her grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on various outings around town. The family also enjoyed traveling as a group and most recently explored Disney and Hawaii.
In her spare time, Judy was a devoted member of the Republican Party, volunteering and working on many campaigns the past 35 years. In addition, she was appointed by George W. Bush to the Advisory Committee on Cemetery and Memorials for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
She is survived by her mother, Sara Day; her husband, Paul; sons; David (Meg) and Peter (Chris); and her grandchildren, Joe, Mike, Luke, Hayden, Henry and Ben.
Judy was preceded in death by her father and son, John Paul.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, and the funeral service on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Ave. in Clive, IA. Burial will be at Valley Cemetery in Judy’s home town of Taylorsville, KY.
