John Goodale Waling, son of Thomas and Jane Waling, was born in Cambridgeshire, England, Oct. 11, 1841. He emigrated to America at the age of fifteen years, was married to Nettie Pelkey May 1st. 1870. To them were born 13 children, six of whom preceded him to the other life. He leaves to mourn a wife, five daughters, two sons, twenty grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters.
He united with the M. E. Church about forty years ago but had been unable to attend church for a long time but spent much time reading his bible. His favorite chapter was the 14th. chapter of John. He was patient during the 18 years of his illness and on last Friday morning the 8th. was stricken with paralysis and passed peacefully away on Wednesday, May 13th. at 3:00 p.m. aged 72 years, 7 months and 2 days. The funeral services were held in the Foresman Church and were conducted by the Rev. A. M. Bayder, and the interment was in the Brook Cemetery.
