Mattie Bumgarner Mikeal
Granite Falls – Mrs. Mattie Bumgarner Mikeal, 78, of Granite Falls, went home to her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2012, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.
She was born January 16, 1934 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Enos Bumgarner and Alma Wilson Bumgarner. She was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church in Granite Falls.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Chester, a brother, Grady Bumgarner and a sister, Sue Reary.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charlie William Mikeal of the home, a son, Charles “Buster” Mikeal, Jr. and wife Teresa of Granite Falls, a brother, Gene Bumgarner of Sarasota, FL, two brothers-in-law, Chester Mikeal and Bernice Mikeal both of Lenoir, and a sister-in-law, Dottie Mikeal of Lenoir. Mrs. Mikeal is also survived by two grandchildren, Brittany Mikeal and Chasity Flemming and two great-grandchildren, Addison Flemming and Annslee Flemming.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Temple Hill Baptist Church in Granite Falls, with Rev. Darrell Hatchell and Rev. Eugene Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mrs. Mikeal will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Mackie Funeral Home from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
