John Fielding Yost, 66 of Prichard, passed away after a sudden illness on February 22, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was born: July 14, 1949 in Bluefield, WV, a son of the late Ralph and Nell Maynard Yost of Williamson, WV.
He attended Williamson High School where he played football and basketball and is a member of the Williamson High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and attended the WV Institute of Technology on a football scholarship and has a degree in education. He taught and coached football for many years in Mingo and Wayne Counties. John was a retired teacher from Tug Valley High School and was currently a substitute teacher in Wayne County.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Brookie Maynard of Mingo County and John Witten and Pearl Mayo Yost of Mercer County, a number of aunts and uncles, and special friend Eddie Evans of Prichard, WV.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Yost of Prichard, WV; son Bradley Scott (Adria) Yost of Milton, WV, daughter Ashley Yost (Matthew) Williamson; grandchildren Gage Alexander Williamson, Mason Reed Williamson, Jillian Faith Yost and Annmarie Elizabeth Yost; sister, Susan Yost (Ted) Jaeger of Gainesville, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Williamson Family Cemetery, Johns Creek Rd, Pikeville, Ky.
