Dewey Monroe Blanton, 92, of Lumberton, died June 7, 2013, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, Dr. David Elks officiating. Burial will follow the service in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

He was born in Columbus County, S.C., on Dec. 28, 1920, to the late G.R. Blanton and the late Nancy Jean Shelly Blanton.

Blanton was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a restaurant owner and operator; The Brown Derby, The Dew Drive-In, and The Burger Palace. Blanton was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lumberton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Hayes Blanton; three brothers; and a sister.

Blanton is survived by two daughters, Velenia Ann Rozier and husband Charles of Roanoke, Va., and Lyndia Joyce Atkinson of Lumberton; three grandchildren, Vanese Barnett and husband Edward, Demetra Amstutz and husband Brad, and Dewey Galloway and wife Tara; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher Barnett, Chase Barnett, Katelyn Amstutz, Zane Galloway and Kailey Galloway.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., in Lumberton

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 938, Lumberton, N.C., 28359, or a charity of your choice.
