Virginia Sue Walters Laughlin, age 69, of Lumberton, NC passed away at her residence on Sunday, October 6, 2013. She was born in Robeson County, NC on February 13, 1944 to the late Ethridge Walters and the late Polly Lee Walters. She retired from Wesley Pines Nursing Center having worked as a dietician.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ada Britt, Florence Britt, Ida Mayes, Vera Snipes; and her brothers, L.E. Walters, Marvin Walters, and Willis Walters, Sr.
Mrs. Laughlin is survived by her husband, James “Bobby” Laughlin of the home; sons, James Laughlin and wife Shelly of Mt. Dora, FL and William Mercer of Rockingham; a daughter, Lisa Scott and husband Bobby of Laurinburg; a sister, Doris Long of Wilmington; a sister-in-law, Gloria Summerour and husband Gary of Oak Island; grandchildren, Skylar Scott, Camryn Laughlin, Amber Dishong, Jessica Presley, Brittany Mannor, Laura Mercer, and Ryan Mercer; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Burdick and Bentley Presley.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 8, 2013, 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
Funeral services will be Wednesday October 9, 2013, 2:00 PM at Long Branch Baptist Church with buried to follow in the Walters Family Cemetery.
