ROBERT LEWIS SILVERMAN was born February 12, 1937, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Eli and Grace Silverman. His father managed a drug store, and passed away in 1993. Grace passed away when Bob was just 19 years old.

Early on, Bob showed a great deal of musical talent. At the age of 2, he started picking out tunes on the piano, tunes that his mother sang to him. Formal lessons began at the age of 7 and, three years later he won first prize at the Jersey City YMCA Music Festival and Recital.

Bob graduated with an associate of arts degree from Los Angeles City College, followed by bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from California State College, Los Angeles. Later, he received a diploma from the United States Naval School of Music. He went on to serve as band and choral director, as well as music instructor, at a number of schools and for many music festivals.

His talent took Bob through many things in life. At an early age he was asked to be a musician for a professional music club in Hollywood. However, at the same time this was happening Bob became a Seventh-day Adventist christian and declined this lucrative offer.

An original member of the Heritage Singers gospel music group, Bob served as their pianist from 1971-1984, impressing audiences around the world with his musical talents and technical abilities.

With the Heritage Singers, Bob traveled throughout the United States and Canada, as well as to many countries outside North America. He also appeared on television numerous times performing with Heritage.

Bob loved Jesus with all his heart. He dedicated all of his life, gifts and talents to glorifying Jesus. He played for Jesus. He prayed to Jesus. His heart stayed with Jesus. He was fearless and consistent in sharing his faith and Christ-like spirit with anyone whom he came in contact. Now Bob sleeps, awaiting the trumpet call at Jesus' soon second coming to be resurrected to eternal life.
