Mr. Virgil Charles "Chick" Middlebrooks

Virgil Charles “Chick” Middlebrooks, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday January 26, 2016 at Signature Healthcare of North Florida in Graceville. He was 81.

Funeral services for Mr. Middlebrooks will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Pastor Cobie Tomlinson officiating. The family will receive friends at 10 AM prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will be held Friday January 29, 2016 at Double Run Baptist Church in Pitts, Georgia at 1 PM (EST). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1207 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL 36301.

Mr. Middlebrooks was born August 25, 1934 in Vienna, Georgia to the late Calvin Alfred and Annie Mae Ward Middlebrooks. He moved to Cordele, Georgia at an early age and was a 1952 graduate of Cordele High School. Following high school, he began a career in the grocery business as a meat cutter. Mr. Middlebrooks moved to Dothan in 1973 and began working for Mack Electric and retired as the Warehouse Manager. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist where he served as a deacon. He was involved with Dothan High School for many years as the clock operator for football and basketball. Mr. Middlebrooks had a love for sports and enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bowling.

Mr. Middlebrooks is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Annie Middlebrooks; two brothers, Benny and Nathan Middlebrooks.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Middlebrooks, Dothan; daughter, Karen Lynn, Dothan; two sons, Keith Middlebrooks, Webb, Kerry Middlebrooks, Dothan; four grandchildren, Ashley, Ayron, Jase and Jessie; great grandchildren, Isaac and Matthew; brother, Johnny and Gordene Middlebrooks.
