Thomas was born on April 3, 1941 in Colorado City, the son of Albert and Pauline Mills Hammond, where he stayed until after his graduation from Colorado City ISD in 1959. After graduating high-school Thomas went off to the Marines where he started his life of traveling. After his 4 years in the marines Thomas spent the majority of his work life working in international pipe-line construction which took him to every continent around the world.
Thomas is survived by his children; Brent Hammond and wife Jenny of Austin, Troy Bearden of Tulsa, Gina Hyde and husband Greg of Tulsa, and Gayle Mitchell of San Antonio, as well as by four grandchildren Connor, Gwendalyn, Scarlet, and Sophie. Also surviving are his siblings Betty Hammond Gale of Dripping Springs, Pat Fourton of Abilene, and Billy Hammond and wife Jane of Big Spring.
He was preceded in death by a sister Dellese Raley.
There will be a funeral service for Thomas held on Wednesday, January 27th at 2pm at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery.
