Texas Hulan Fisher Stevens, the son of Samuel Stevens and Amanda Matilda Doolittle, married Nancy Elizabeth Byars the daughter of Joseph Byars and Saphronia Fatheree. They were married on November 15th, 1893 in Dewitt County, Texas.

Stevens--In memory of Bro. T. H. Stevens who departed this earthly life on April 4, 1932. A dear brother in the Lord left this earth of sorrow and tribulations to go live forever with the "Great Rewarder." In our memory he will always linger as a part of us, and--tho--so much pain his going has caused, we rest assured lt was his gain. And here we are below. Thinking of how very fair it needs must be, since he is there. We see him in another clime, ever beckoning us onward and upward--to right living and thinking: We are lonely, here without him. How he came to our home, visited with us, how he enjoyed himself as much so as we did. How we sit and listened so attentively to the good sermons he preached. Hear him read "God's Word" and make it so plain. It was through his good teaching, that brought us from darkness, unto light. We feel like we owe so much praise to him, which no words are adequate enough to say all the good his life was to mankind. We know now he is sharing those great and precious promises he so often called our attention to. We can only see him now, as he lived here, full of joy and peace, yet in memory, he is only with us. We can hear him still singing those songs of Zion pointing the human family to the lamb of God. A true saying as it is written, How beautiful tbe gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things. Heaven seems to us more bright since the spirit of that loved one took its homeward flight. We long to cross the river, there to see and know him evermore. So we bow our head submissively to God's will and find peace and consolation. Death: indeed loves a shinning mark. -- E. D.
