GySgt.Harold James "Jim" Berlin It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the death of our family member "Jim". After a long and valiant fight with several illnesses, he passed away from this life to the next on January 13, 2016 at hospice house. Jim was born on December 19, 1941 to Harold James Berlin and Miriam Hummel in Doylestown Ohio. To know him was to love him, he was a soft hearted man with a gruff exterior but always the first to volunteer for any project, job, or aid to friends and family even strangers. He was a proud military man, joining the Marine Corps at the age of 17. Served his country for 20 years as active duty, wounded in Vietnam and received numerous metals including the Purple Heart. Leaving to cherish his memory and legacy his wife, Judith de la Bruyere, Brother Fred Berlin (Diane) of Green, Ohio, Daughters Denise Grossman, Janine Mrock, and Tammie Janis, all of Chicago. Grandchildren Zachary Janis and Kaitlyn Janis, also of Chicago Illinois. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold James and Miriam Berlin, brother Dick Berlin. Jim was a dedicated Elk member also the Moose Lodge and former all district commander for the VFW. The family would like to extend their gratitude and love to Dr. Robert Brumberg and Dr. Frank Gredler, and staff, for their expert care and compassion throughout his illness. TMH and TMH Rehab staff for years of primo service, we felt like family. Select specialty Hospital for their compassion during his stay last month. Last, but only because it's the nature of the care they provide, big band hospice and hospice house for the excellent care compassion and love provided during the last few days of his life, as well as us, his family and friends. A memorial will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 1 PM at the Elks Lodge in Tallahassee Florida. Internment on January 20, 2016 at 1 PM at the national cemetery in Tallahassee Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Wounded Warrior Project.
