Mr. Merton E. Williams, Jr., 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 9 to 11 am at Lakewood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 am with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Merton was born in Madison County, MS to the late Merton E. Williams, Sr. and Jimmie C. Jackson.
Merton attended Mississippi College. He was a charter member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. He was the Secretary and Treasurer of the Kiwanis for many years. He served in the Army Guard for five years and also served in Korea. Merton was a very compassionate person and loved his wife and family. He was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Allen Williams and sister, Ann Day. He is survived by his wife, Lois Pickens; daughter, Angela Adair; sister, Lila Jean Stennett, Elizabeth Candreia and Rebecca Bowering; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
