She resided in Greensboro, NC until her death. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Tamika Alston Edwards (Denzel); grandchildren Princess Alston and Jerry Edwards; brothers: Ricky Alston (Sylvia) and Ernest Alston; sisters Mary Patterson, Erma Alston, Almeta Alston, and Aronita Hunt (Ronnie), all of Greensboro, NC; a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, her (father) John Alston, (mother) Mary Alston, (brother) Jerry Lewis Alston, and (sister) Votia Alston. She was of the Christian faith and loved to listen to Shirley Caesar, long walks, shopping and enjoying valuable time with her two grandchildren. There will be a dinner for her family on Saturday, January 16. My Mom wished to be cremated. My mother was a woman like no other. She gave me life, nurtured me, taught me, dressed me, and helped me, but, most important, loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words I can say to describe just how important my mother was to me and what a powerful influence she continues to be. Mother, I love you!
