Services for Ethel Mae Roberts Ashburn, age 97, of Baxter, Tennessee will be conducted on Friday, January 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Crest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Ashburn was born November 13, 1918 in Dekalb County Tennessee to the late
Wert Roberts and Patsy Herron Roberts.
Ethel was a devoted mother and homemaker who loved cooking and taking care of her children. She enjoyed working in ceramics, gardening, canning, and quilting.
Mrs. Ashburn was a member of the Free Will Baptists and attended Lilly’s Chapel for many years.
She is survived by four daughters, Helen Lafever, Lorell Rhoten,
Neda (Solen) Sherrell, and Debbie (Rick) Wheeler [of Gainesboro] and three sons;
Ernest (Faye) Ashburn [of Loudon],
Thurman (Claudia) Ashburn [of Payson Utah], and Ronald Ashburn. In addition she is survived by two sisters-in-law; Dollie Collier and Eva Nell Statzer [of Florida], as well as ten grandchildren,
fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ethel was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard Ashburn,
one brother Ralph Roberts, and four sisters, Eva Roberts, Essie Herd, Bessie Harris, and Willie Ravenell Rice. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Bro. Tommy Benson will be officiating the service.
