Becky Lachermeier Scardina, age 84, entered into eternal peace at her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the morning of Monday, October 12, 2015 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Geisenfeld, Germany on April 16, 1931 and came to the United States with her husband in 1955. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenz and Katharina Lachermeier; and her eight brothers and sisters: Maria Strasser, Anna Matmer, Karl Lachermeier, Rosa Kirpal, Katharina Dean, Elizabeth Beck, Lorenz Lachermeier, and Hans Lachermeier. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Raymond B. Scardina; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim L. Scardina and Deborah Scardina, Rick C. Scardina and Laura E. Scardina; her four grandchildren, Amy S. Silvey and her husband Ryan Silvey, Stephen J. Scardina, James H. Kohoutek, II, and Carlie Scardina; her two great-grandchildren, Dylan Silvey and Landon Silvey; four sisters-in-law: Josephine Scardina Goad, Bonnie Scardina Wade and her husband David Wade, Beth Scardina, and Gloria Scardina; brother-in-law Donald Scardina; and many dear, close to her heart nieces, nephews, and friends; last but not least, her loyal companion until the end, her Dachshund, Fritz. While growing up in Germany, one of Becky's missions in life was to help others. She did so by obtaining an associate degree and was honored to have worked as an assistant to a prominent doctor in Munich, Germany where she was able to care for others. She was a wonderful, caring, and compassionate person. She especially loved being a mother to her two sons. She will always be remembered for the unconditional love she had for her family, her sharp wit and wisdom, and the positive attitude she radiated even in times of adversity. Becky always expressed her gratitude for the smallest things and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Private services and a Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Matthew Dupre', was held at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. The pallbearers were Stephen Scardina, Donald Scardina, Jeff Goad, David Wade, David Wade, Jr., and Gardner Wade. The Eulogy was given by her grandson, Stephen Scardina; Readings by Bonnie Wade and Cheryl Kennedy; Eucharistic Minister, Beth Scardina; Gift Bearers, Barbara Scates, Kristy Scardina, and Tommy Walsh. Entombment in St. George Cemetery Mausoleum.
