Jane O’Rourk Luebben, 87, of Bridgewater, VA passed away peacefully on June 21, 2012 at the Mountain View Home Care Facility near Penn Laird, VA. She was born in Dundalk, MD on November 17, 1924. Jane was the daughter of John P. O’Rourk and Clara (Tussey) O’Rourk. Her sister, Ann (O’Rourk) Costlow, preceded her in death in 1983 and her oldest son, Carl Christopher, in 1961. Jane graduated from the University of Maryland in 1945 with a BS degree in Horticulture. She was an avid cook and baker, housekeeper, flower arranger, gardener for family enjoyment, a loving mother, and no stranger for helping people or children in need in her quiet way. She mastered the art of engraving at Wilson Jewelers. During her working years, her talents for widow displays at Massanutten Library and Wilson Jewelers were unendingly popular with customers and book borrowers alike. Her propensity for buying used furniture or kitchen equipment that needed to be fixed kept her husband on active duty in his spare time repair shop. Jane is survived by her husband, Carl G. Luebben, and their three children. Their eldest son, Alex, and his wife Mary (Pranger) Luebben, and their son, James, live on an adjoining tract of land to the home farm. Daniel and his wife Cynthia (Miller) Luebben have three boys. Dan and Cindy operate the home farm dairy near Bridgewater, VA. Byard is their oldest son, resides in Harrisonburg, VA. Justin and wife, Heather, live in Bridgewater, VA. Craig, the youngest son, lives in Bridgewater, VA and is involved with the dairy operation. A daughter, Mary Carol, is married to Blake Shepherd. They have one daughter, Elizabeth, and live in Staunton, VA. Funeral arrangements were handled by Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, VA.
