Ruby "Frances" (White) (Flippen) Wilkes was born on September 16, 1898 in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of Oscar Henry White (1864-1927) and Mary Tom (Lovell) White (1868-1938).

She was married 1st about 1915 to William Wade Flippen Sr (1874-1933), the son of Henry Flippen. She was married 2nd to Charles Albert Wilkes.

Still in Nashville and a member of the Baptist Church, Frances was a saleslady at Lebroks Brothers and living at 192 Manchester Avenue. She was 40 years old and married when she died at Nashville General Hospital on April 14, 1939 of peritonitis after having had a hysterectomy on March 28th.

Preceded in death by her 1st husband, she was survived by her husband Charles, daughter Miss Christine Flippen, sons W W Flippen Jr and Thurman Flippen, sisters Mrs Nannie Gunter, Mrs W E Tilley and Mrs W Bruce and by brothers O C White and Willie White of Nashville.

Funeral Services were held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home on April 17th, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
