Reuben Jackson Branscom was born on Dec. 13, 1838, in Virginia. He was married to Miss Hannah Coggin on Nov. 2, 1858 in Washington county, Tennessee. To this union eight children were born, of these, seven are living. Margaret dying in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. James Christensen of Elmwood; Mrs. Thomas Jones of 2427 P street, Lincoln; Mrs. Joe Lawley of McCook; Mrs. W.H. Forman of Denver, Colo,; L.T. Branscom of Curtis; E.R. Branscom of Bastrop, Louisiana; Mrs. Elsworth Ward of McCook besides 28 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Branscom moved to North Carolina, where they lived some years and then moved to Syracuse, Nebr., in May, 1879 and later moved to Frontier county, in November, 1887, and then to McCook, where they since resided. Mrs. Branscom passed to the spirit world July 7, 1908 at McCook. Brother Branscom passed away at the home of his son, L.T. Branscom in Curtis, on Nov. 4, 1923, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 21 days. Brother Branscom said that he was fully converted last summer and knew he was saved, although he had been a member of the Dunkard church when a young man. At the time of his death he was a member in good standing in the Methodist church in McCook. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. C.W.
