Emily Florena (or Florina?) was the fifth of six known children of Heinrich (went by Henry) Tesch/Tesh (1793-1846) and Susanna Barbara Rothrock (1803-1855), who married 06 Feb 1827 in North Carolina.
Emily married the widower William Augustus Ackerman (1823-1907) on 29 Apr 1861 in Forsyth County, North Carolina. William had three children by his first wife, Jennett Elisabeth Spach (1826-1860), whom he married 22 Jan 1848 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina:
1. James Theodore Ackerman (1850-1924)
2. Alice Ackerman Brown (1855-1939)
3. John William Ackerman (1857-1942).
Emily and William were the parents of an additional six children, the names of four whom are known, namely:
4. Irwin Sylvester Ackermn (1861-1880/1900)
5. Rufus Augusus Ackerman (1863-1943)
6. Jenettie "Nettie" May Ackerman (1869-1903)
7. Lee H. Ackerman (1873-1929)
The family moved from North Carolina to Missouri sometime between 1863 and 1868. In 1870 and 1880 the family was living in Missouri. In 1900 William, Emily (mother of six, three living) and children: Rufus, Nettie and Lee were living next door to John William Ackerman (1857-1942) (a son of William by his first marriage) at Linn County, Kansas.
