He was retired with 33 1/2 years Federal service. He joined the USAF June 1941 and was stationed at Kelly AFB, TX where he pursued training in aircraft engine installation and aircraft welding. From 1943-44 he was with military services in Brazil. He was transferred to Hawaii and served there until the end of WWII. From July-Dec 1948 he was stationed in Germany where he assisted with the Berlin airlift. In 1949 he was returned to Tinker Air Force Base. In 1952 he was sent to Korea to participate in the Korean Conflict where he served as flight chief and navigation control officer. In 1953 he went to Itazuke, Japan for special flight school. Upon returning to the US, he attended jet transition and F-101 school in Amarillo, TX, and B-57 school at Hill AFB, Utah.

After the war, his US tour included assignments as crew chief in Armore, OK; flight chief at Hill AFB, UT; crew chief at Hamilton AFB, CA; and crew chief at Kingsley AFB, OR. He was stationed with HQ Tuslog, Ankora, Turkey in 1961 where his responsibilities included flying and safety programs, technical manual and regulation updates andd tactical evaluation inspections. He was a member of Midwest City Masonic Lodge No 532 where he completed the first three degrees to become Blue Lodge. He continued as a member of Guthrie Consistory where he became a full 32nd Degree Mason, going on on to become a Shriner with membership in the India Temple, AAONMS of Oklahoma City. He was a past member of the Boomer Patrol. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Billy Krouse Post No 9969 Del City, OK. He had a genuine sense of National Pride and felt one of his greatest accomplishments was through his service to his country. This dedication allowed him opportunity to fly and work with aircraft.
