Rev. James Ray Letterman, age 80, of Azalea Lane Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 18th, 2015. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Milt and Hattie Letterman. He was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Letterman who passed away in 2013.

Surviving is his loving wife, Ruby Letterman; daughter: Carol Ann Jones (Greg Young); step-daughter, Donna Huskins; step-son, Donald Braithwaite; daughter-in-law, Ida Letterman; grandchildren: Sara Morrissey (Jamie) and Bradley Jones (Dedra); step-grandchildren: Jennifer Thomason (Kevin), Josh Swink, Elizabeth Wilds, Olivia Bartlow, David Braithwaite and Alicia Braithwaite; great-grandchildren: Caleb Morrissey, Emma Morrissey and Grayson Jones; step, great-grandchildren: Logan Thomason, Ayden Carroll, Emerich Wilds, Gavin Wilds and Josie Wilds; siblings: Margie Wilson, Joe Letterman (Libby), Shirley Butner, Allene Lee (Raymond) and Phillip Letterman.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Brother Timothy Campbell and Brother Eugene Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Academy Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph, Chapter #57 D.A.V.
