John Joseph McCarthy, 84, served in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Wren. He was a graduate of Kensington High School and Fredonia State Teachers College in New York. He taught school in the Buffalo, New York School System and for the last 20 years he was a business manager for OBT in western New York. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post in Conway and a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dennis Joseph and Beatrice Lynch McCarthy; a sister, Beatrice McCarthy Cicero; and a brother, Dennis McCarthy, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Barbara A. Murray McCarthy; son, Sean Patrick McCarthy (Carol); daughter, Erin McCarthy Taylor (Gary); sisters, Kathryn McCarthy Wojtulski and Nora McCarthy D’Anna both of Buffalo, NY; brother, Thomas McCarthy of Buffalo, NY; and5 grandchildren.
