Prime Minister of Yemen. Al-Iryani served as the Prime Minister of Yemen from April 29, 1998 to March 31, 2001. He attended school in the United States, receiving degrees from the University of Georgia and Yale University before serving in various ministerial posts in the then-North Yemen. Once Yemen was unified in 1990, Al-Iryani served as Minister of Foreign Affairs (briefly as Minister of Development), before becoming prime minister on April 29, 1998. He would serve in this position until March 31, 2001. Al-Iryani was a member of the General People's Congress, the party started by long time Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. He was also a member of the Global Leadership Foundation, a group devoted to "good governance and reducing conflict around the world".
