Actress, Screenwriter, Author. She was the third wife of actor Cary Grant (1949 until their divorce in 1962). Born in Paris, to a wealthy American family who lost their fortune in the Stock Market Crash of 1929, her grandfather was the developer and proprietor of the famous Drake Hotel in Chicago. She worked as a model, prior to making her motion picture debut playing 'Anabel Sims' opposite Grant in the film "Every Girl Should Be Married" (1948). She went on to co-star in the features "Dancing in the Dark" (1949, opposite William Powell), "The Second Woman (1950, opposite Robert Young) and "Pretty Baby" (1950, opposite Dennis Morgan), before reuniting with her by-now husband Grant in "Room for One More" (1951). Her further film credits include "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?" (1957), "Intent to Kill" (1958) and "No Next Time" (1958). She co-wrote the screenplay for the film "Houseboat" (1958), which starred Grant and penned the novel "Children, You Are Very Little" (1971). A footnote to Drake. She escaped the sinking of the ocean liner SS Andrea Doria in 1956.
