Mrs. Trilby S. Harris, 76, died Friday, April 8, 2011.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Harris, was a native of the Bell Arthur community of Pitt County and a graduate of the last class of Bell Arthur High School. A 1956 graduate of East Carolina College in elementary education, she taught at the Third Street School for 28 years. She was a member of the Arthur Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Senior Sisters, a former President of the Christian Women's Fellowship, former chairman of the church board, former membership committee chairman and an active choir member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Hermon and Lucy Moore Smith and a brother, Mark Hassell Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David B. Harris; son, David B. 'Ben' Harris, Jr. and wife, Kathleen, of Grifton; grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris and Thomas Harris both of Grifton; and step-grandchildren, Christy Woody and Nicholas Dunn both of Grifton.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Sunday from 6 ' 8 p.m.
