PORT JEFFERSON STATION, N.Y. — Dorothy Virginia (Brooks) Cluett, 92, a longtime resident of Dennisport, passed away on Oct. 20, 2008, at Woodhaven Nursing Home (Center of Care) in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.

She is survived by her sons, Edward and wife, Patricia of Lansing, N.Y., and Stephen and wife, Anne of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Edward, Ryan, Rachel, Allison and Christopher.

Dorothy, born in Arlington on Christmas Day, 1915, was the youngest child of John Henry and Anne (Daly) Brooks. Her brothers and sisters (now deceased) included Arthur, Sidney, John, David, Helen Caples, Alice Protopapas, and Marie Wilson. Dorothy graduated from Arlington High School.

She married Edward Cluett of Belleoram, Newfoundland, and moved to Cape Cod where they raised their family. Dorothy worked as a secretary for the Cape Cod Board of Realtors and the Popponesset Corp., which owned New Seabury in Mashpee.

Dorothy was an active parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in West Harwich and a member of the lay Order of St. Francis Assisi.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. A funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Route 28, West Harwich, will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Annex, Dennisport.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dorothy's name to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W. Lexington St., Baltimore, MD 21201-3414.
