James Nevel, Former Area Man, Dies
Natrona Heights - James C. Nevel, Sr., 70, of 12D Sheldon Park, Natrona Heights, died at 1:10 p.m. Friday in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Tarentum, following an illness of six weeks. He was a native of St. Petersburg. A son of the late George and Jennie Fulmer Nevel, he was born on May 27, 1894, in St. Petersburg. A retired employee of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in Brackenridge, Mr. Nevel had resided in Tarentum and Braeburn. He retired in 1959, after completing 37 years of service with the firm. Mr. Nevel is survived by three sons and three daughters, Robert L. Nevel, of Knox, James C. Nevel, Jr., of Braeburn, Draftsman 1-C Kenneth M. Nevel, of Norfolk, Virginia, Mrs. Mildred McKinstery, of Sacramento, California, Mrs. Ruth M. Johnson, of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Robert (Leucretia) Fisher, of New Kensington. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Dorothy Harnish, of St. Petersburg, Mrs. Ruth Eisenhuth and Mrs. Ray (Elva) Smith, both of Knox, Leroy Nevel, of St. Petersburg, and Llewelyn Nevel, of Tucson, Arizona. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Ross G. Walker Funeral Home, New Kensington. Rev. Thomas Liotta, Evergreen Methodist Church, Millvale, will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park at Lower Burrell.
Death certificate gives age as 70 years, 1 month and 27 days. Son of George Nevel & Jennie Fulmer. Noted as divorced. Son, James C. Nevel, was informant. Buried on July 27, 1964.
