Lester J. Cummings, age 80 of the town of Baraboo, passed away Feb. 20, 1988 at St. Clare Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Cummings was born on March 14, 1907 in Baraboo, the son of John and Rose (Davidson) Cummings. On Nov. 26, 1936 he was married to Anna Scully at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Baraboo. Mr. Cummings was a lifelong resident of Baraboo and was employed by the Sauk County Highway Department for more than 40 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Msgr. O'Riley Council No. 746 and the Sauk County Federation of Labor.

Survivors are his wife, Anna; three sons, James and Edward (Alice) of the Town of Baraboo and Daniel of Pewaukee; two daughters, Mrs. Crystal (Paul) Hasheider of the Town of Baraboo. and Mrs. Kathryn (William) Randall of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Bill and Debra Randall, Tye Hasheider, and Kory and Kim Cummings; one brother, Robert of the Town of Baraboo. Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Crystal and Helen.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church by Fr. Bernard Rott. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hanson Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. There will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:15 p.m.
