Aaron Clark Shaffer, 30, of Charleston passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 at CAMC General Hospital from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Aaron was an Eagle Scout, a seven year combat Marine Corps Veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman with a deep passion for fishing. He was a accomplished musician and loved to play his guitar and sing. Aaron was a excellent mechanic and had an uncanny ability to tear apart and fix almost anything. He was a fearless defender of our freedom and selflessly served his country during two combat deployments. You never knew when or where Aaron would show up or for how long he would stay. But you could always count on some stories to be told, laughs to be had and big hearty hugs to be exchanged. He was rough around the edges but had a good heart. He was deeply loved by his family and many close friends. We'll hold tight to the many memories of better days that we have and look to God for strength in the days to come

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Okey McBride, Jr., Buss and Pat Shaffer.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Samuel W. Shaffer and Rita J. McBride Shaffer; brothers, Philip(Jessica) Shaffer, Timothy (Marissa) Shaffer; sister, Sarah Shaffer; nieces, Ella and Eva Shaffer, nephew, Tucker Shaffer, cousin, Rebecca (Joseph) Rickaby and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Funeral will be 11:00 am Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at the Hafer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery with military graveside rights.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
