She was co-author of a book on genealogy, "Messenger Family in Portage and Geauga Counties, Ohio", was an avid genealogist & active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Doris married Hollis B. Patterson December 26, 1937 in Indiana. Doris is survived by her husband, daughter, Janet (Bruce) Cornelius, son, Douglas (Gloria) Patterson, grandchildren, Steven Dodos, Lenny (Noreen) and Erik Patterson, great grandchildren, Christopher Dodos, Jennifer (Grady) Fallon, Benjamin Dodos, Justin & Jesse Patterson. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her grandsons, Anthony Dodos & Patrick Patterson.
Private services have already been held and burial at a later date.
