On 5 Feb 1864 he mustered into Co. M, 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry.
He was transferred out on 17 Jun 1865 into Co. M, 1st Pennsylvania Provisional Cavalry.
He was mustered out on 13 Jul 1865.

Married Ida A Brown on 9 Feb 1867 in Anamosa, Jones Co., IA. They had three children: Druzilla M., Bertrand E., & Ozeretta.
They divorced in the early 1890's, as 1900 in Modesto, Ida's last name is Zabel and is living with Ozeretta (Dottie).

He married secondly to Ella E. Van Cleff on 30 Sep 1893 in Redwood City, San Mateo Co., CA. They had one child: Norma E.

He was believed to be the last living member of Sheridan-Dix Post No. 7, G.A.R. of San Jose, Calif.
