Memorial services for Mitchell D. Abner of Salem, Va., will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in the Trinity Baptist Church. The Rev. Rod Young, Pastor, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mitchell died on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at his home in Salem, Va. He was born on June 23, 1964, in Norman, Okla. Mitchell grew up in El Reno and was a 1982 graduate of El Reno High School and attended Redlands Community College. He moved to Salem, Va., in 1990 where he has resided since. He worked with computers and was a carpenter. Mitchell married Cheryl Knott on March 10, 1984, in El Reno, Okla. Mitchell loved football, fishing, and playing golf. He was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church and an active member of West Salem Baptist Church, Salem, Va. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Louise Abner.

Survivors include his four children, Tyler Abner, of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Brittney Abner, Cari Abner, and Colby Abner, all of Salem, Va.; his father, Davie Abner and wife, Jean, of El Reno, Okla.; brother, Brent Abner and wife, Connie, of El Reno, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorials may be made to Mitchell Abner, c/o Trinity Baptist Church, 1201 E. Rogers, El Reno, OK 73036.
