E. Douglas “Doug” Nickels, 81, Kingsport, TN passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at The Villages at Allandale (Yesterday’s Place).

Born in Russell County, VA on January 17, 1934, Doug was the second of four children and the oldest son of Alta Mae King Nickels and Frances Marion Nickels. He moved to the Bloomingdale Community in 1962 and had worked for 40 years at AFG Glass, Blue Ridge Plant.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ben Nickels and wife, Nell, and Ray Nickels; sister, Ina Mae Nickels Addington and husband, Rexford Addington; and brother-in-law, Glyn King.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, June E. Horne Nickels of Kingsport, TN; sons, Randy Nickels and wife, Linda of Blountville, and David Nickels of Kingsport; granddaughter, Brandy M. Nickels of Xiamen, China; brother-in-law, Kenneth and wife, Dorothy of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Sue King of Shawnee, OK, and Peggy Horne of Nickelsville, VA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The graveside service will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
