Taking off from RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, 115 RAF Squadron’s Vickers Wellington 1A (#P2524) aircraft, with an aircrew of six, was shot down by a German fighter aircraft while the Wellington, on an operation searching for enemy shipping off the cost of Denmark, was attacking the German battleships ‘Schamhorst’ and ‘Gneisenau’.
The airmen who perished in the attack were-

RAF Aircraftman 2nd Class Henry George ABLETT,
RAFVR Pilot Officer Julian Paul CHESTER-MASTER,
