Travis Blake Nichols, born on October 22nd, 1976, passed away on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at the age of 38 in Conway, Arkansas. He lived at home until the age of 13, when he moved to the Conway Human Development Center, where he resided for the remainder of his life. Blake, as his family called him, was sweet and gentle. He always smiled big when family came to visit him. He loved music; if music was on, he would tap his foot, sometimes even rock his whole body right to the beat. Blake’s favorite thing was to be sung to. His favorites were the LDS primary songs "I Am a Child of God", ""Families Can Be Together Forever", and "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet", and he also loved the Beach Boys. His brother, James, has fond memories of taking turns swinging on the swings when visiting Blake. His sister, Melissa, remembers how she would often place the wheelchairs of Blake and the other guys in his cottage in a big circle when she was little. She would then run around the middle of it singing "Little Red Riding Hood" and they would laugh and clap and smile. He also loved watching the Disney Channel. The last few years of his life had many hospital stays and his family often joked it was because he wanted to have a TV all to himself to watch his favorite channel. Anyone who walked into a room with him felt his sweet spirit. He taught and touched everyone around him, with no words at all. Those who cared for him and knew him said they felt his gentle soul and were forever touched by him. They remarked on the love and strength he possessed and how revered he was by his family. When Blake was young he loved to walk and play, and the only word he ever spoke was “Mama.” His family finds comfort in knowing he is now able to walk and move freely again and looks forward to seeing him again and hearing his voice.
