Robert Lee Hatfield, 83, of Mentone (Palestine), Indiana passed unexpectedly while doing yard work Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his residence.

Robert was born on April 17, 1937 in Kosciusko County, Indiana to the late Carl and Clarabelle (Brugh) Hatfield. He married on July 14, 1973 in Warsaw, Indiana to Susan E. Jagodzinski, she survives.

Robert had been a truck driver and a receiving clerk for Playtime Products of Warsaw. He then retired from Da-Lite Screen of Warsaw in 2001.

He was a 1956 graduate of Mentone High School. He enjoyed gathering at local coffee shops to share stories with friends. He was known to tinker in his garage on many projects. Bob took great pride in maintaining his property. He was an avid collector of toy John Deere tractors and also enjoyed restoring full sized tractors.

Wife – Susan Hatfield – Mentone, Ind.
Daughter – Jennifer Ayers – Indianapolis, Ind.
Son – Douglas and wife Stacey Hatfield – Santa Maria, California
Grandchildren- Michael, Joshua, Megan, and Andrew Hatfield and Abbigail Ayers

Following all county, state, and federal guidelines for social distancing, the funeral service for Mr. Hatfield will take place at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 30, 2020 at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana with Pastor Gary Loy officiating. For the health of all in attendance we encourage the public to wear masks.

Robert’s interment will be in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Indiana.
