OUR 5TH RESCUE CAT, AGE: 14 Years

DESCRIPTION: Twin, Long-Haired Persian Tourtoise Shell (Black and Brown)

BIRTHDAY: Estimated by the vet to be 5 years old when adopted in 2005.

HER NAME: After PattyB retired in 2005, she went to the pet store for some fish---but came home with two adorable fuzzy rescue kitties. Both were about 5 years old. The pet store was having an adoption day. The two kitties had been sheltered in Marshall, NC by FurEver Friends, where they were named, "Tia" and "Maria." PattyB brought them home and somehow, they immediatley got out into the garage without her knowledge. After a search of the house for several frustrating hours and a frantic call to J.R. about losing the new cats, Patty B. found them HIDING behind the propane furnace in the garage! Thus, they became HEIDI & SPOOKY!

HER LIFE: PattyB signed an agreement with FurEver Friends that the kitties would not be allowed outside, so they became "housecats." They were carried to the camper when we went on trips, and got about 20,000 miles on them in 10 years! They went to every bass tournament campground, to Virginia to see the 23 kids/grandkids, to the Outer Banks on annual fishing trips, to Raleigh for our Sr. State games, etc. etc. We noticed that she was having joint trouble lately when she jumped up on the camper kitchen counter to get a "drip-drip" drink (she didn't like water bowls). She was definitely getting older, and we knew time was not our friend.

HER DEATH: Spooky died overnight at the age of about 14 years on 24 Aug 2015. She had been our adopted darling for 10 years! Both kitties usually stayed in the living room at home at night; but Spooky loved to sneak into our bedroom occasionally to get near us. We heard a loud kittie cry during the middle of the night (somewhat louder than usual), and we thought she was right outside the bedroom door and wanted in. But that was probably Heidi crying about losing her beloved sister overnight. Heidi really misses Spooky; so does Junior, our little Shih Tzu puppy friend at our house.

OUR HOPE: That Spooky is being petted and hugged by the Lord in her Heavenly abode, and that we will meet again someday.

SPOOKY was replaced by a rescue boy cat, "Rummie Punkin' Houdini," who is a beautiful Siamese kitty. He disappears quite a bit, but shows back up in a flash! He was originally named "Rummie" by and adopted from our bowling friend, Punkin', and has helped to fill the giant hole in our hearts!
