Erna May was born on December 7, 1928 near Freistatt, MO, daughter of the late Emil and Esther (Deschner) Osterloh. She attended school at Freistatt and was a life-long faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Erna May believed in serving the Lord and serving others. She was a volunteer for the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon, where she devoted over 11,300 hours of her time. She also served in the American Legion Auxiliary 15th District and Post 419, as well as the Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.
On October 26, 1947, Erna May and Cecil T. Doss were united in marriage. They were blessed with over forty-two years together before his passing on September 20, 1990. To this union, three children were born.
Erna May is survived by her son, Leland Doss and wife Mitzi, of Monett; her daughter, Joyce Ness, of Freistatt; one sister, Delphine Hesemann, of Verona; two grandchildren, Erin Carter and husband Andrew, of Milwaukee and Dakota Doss and wife Melody, of Freistatt; four great-grandchildren, Caedmon and Brian Carter and Drake and Brylee Doss; as well as a host of extended family and friends. Erna May was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Jean Doss; one grandson, Derek Doss; two brothers, Alfred and Lloyd Osterloh; one sister, Lloydeen Hesemann and one son-in-law, Stanley Ness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Doss will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Reverend Kenneth Lampe will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Freistatt Rural Fire Department in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
