Early Life: Nancy was born on November 14, 1940, in Portland, Oregon, the oldest child of Donald Ambrose and Mary Eveline Richeson Barraclough.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: On June 6, 1959, Nancy married her soulmate, Rod Houston, in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They started their adventure together working in Yosemite National Park during the summer for the next 13 years, while Rod worked in education the other nine months. During that time, they started their family of four loving daughters. Nancy was very talented and had the gift of making her home beautiful and happy. She sewed many clothes for herself and her daughters. When her family was grown, she loved to make quilts which she donated to many humanitarian organizations. She loved to travel and she was able to fulfill her lifelong dream to help in medical care by becoming the first female ER technician at UVRMC. She served an LDS mission with her husband to the Navajo Nation at Crown Point, New Mexico. Nancy served in many LDS Church callings, but her favorite was working with the Primary children. Nancy Rose Barraclough Houston, of Orem, Utah, passed away August 13, 2015, in her home surrounded by her loving husband, four daughters and other loved ones, after a courageous six month battle with ovarian cancer. She was 74.
Survived By: Her husband of 56 years, Rod Houston; Laura Remkes, of Huntsville; Dana & Bruce Chappell, of Lyman; Shana & Jay Muse, of Salt Lake City; Deena & Jared Rutter, of Salt Lake City; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters: Maureen Ricks, Mary Lynne Wilson; brother, Dale Barraclough; and many other loved ones.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents; in-laws, Earl & Myrle Houston; and one brother-in- law, Roger Houston.
