Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late Gurley Washington Gordon and Myrtle Irene Dickson Gordon. He was a resident of Henderson County for forty years and worked in the landscaping business. In addition the his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamela Kay Gordon, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived his wife, Carolyn Craine Gordon; two daughters, Tammy Melgar and her husband Mario and Nancy Gordon, all of East Flat Rock; a sister, Shirley Taylor; eight grandchildren, Michael, Abel, Mario E, Kasandra, Alex, Rosa, Manuel and John; two great-grandchildren, Carmen and Nicole; one aunt, Ruby Shipman of Rome, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Reverend Mike Ingle will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel and at other times at the home of Tammy Melgar.
