Vivian Irene Johnson, of Millsboro, DE, was born on August 1, 1933 to the late Harley and Marcella Johnson. She departed this life on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Delaware at the age of 82.
Vivian received her education at Johnson School where she completed the 8th grade.
Vivian a.k.a. Mom, Maggie, Mag Wheels, Mag Doodles or Mags was a strong independent woman who raised her children and grandchildren. Vivian was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Millsboro, DE where she served as a faithful member. Maggie loved working in and around the church. She took pride in cleaning the church and hall. Maggie loved frying chicken for the church and was well known for her fried chicken. She also was a past member of the Lilly of the Valley Chapter#14 in Clarksville, DE. Mom was also a dependable adult companion sitter for several family members from the neighborhood.
She was a hard worker, very supportive and caring of others as she loved to visit people in the community. Mom had a quiet spirit but could get it said when necessary.
For a few years she worked for Showell Poultry while also being employed at Townsends Inc. in Millsboro, DE where she retired after 38 years of service.
In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by a son; James Johnson and her siblings: 2 sisters, Barbara H. Johnson, Blonnie McCall; five brothers; George Edsel, Randall, Kendall, Elson and Crawford Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son; Marvin (Rocinda) Johnson, one daughter; Darlene (Rick) Showell both of Millsboro, DE , four grandchildren; Markishia Wise, Derrick (Jessica) Johnson, Myeles Johnson all of Millsboro, DE and Lakeia Broughton of Dover, DE. one brother; Harlin (Jean) Johnson of Georgetown, DE, one sister; Rochella Nock of Millsboro, DE; two sister-in-laws Barbara and Beatrice Johnson of Millsboro, DE., and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins with many, devoted friends.
A public viewing will be held for Vivian on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Harmony United Methodist Church in Millsboro, DE, where friends may call after 11:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Harmony Cemetery.
