Clyde Smith, 78, Lawrenceville, died Thursday at 5 a.m. in his home.

Services will be in the Nicholas-Smith Funeral Home with Kev. Harvey McFesselpresiding. Visitation will be with Masonic Services at the funeral home.Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born July 17, 1904, in Steelville, Mo., the son of Henry W. and Mae (Perrigue) Smith. He married Evlyn Neal in Olney Aug. 12, 1931 and she survives.

He was a business leader in Lawrenceville for many years; and was the former owner of the Lawrenceville Greenhouses; and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He was a former football coach at Bridgeport High School; was a graduate of the University of Missouri; and was an All-American professional football player.

He was a member of the Lawrenceville Kiwanis Club; chairman of the Lawrence County Housing Authority; a board member of Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce; a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge at Bridgeport; the Lawrenceville Elks; the Royal Arch Masons of Sumner; the Danville Consistery; and Lawrence County Shrine Club.

Other survivors include two brothers, Glenn, Pittsfield; and Ray, Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Vic Graf, Tulsa; a niece and two nephews.
