Walter Tipton “Tip” Burcham, 87, of 5 Parkview Drive, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 3, 2015.

Mr. Burcham was a native of Virginia and had resided in Buncombe County for the past 20 years. He retired in 1995 from PPG Industries for over 27 years and was a US Army veteran during the Korean War.

He was a son of the late James Daniel Burcham and Della Willey Burcham and husband of Patricia Ann Jarrett Burcham who died July 18, 2015. He is also preceded in death by his son, Tony Tipton Burcham; sister, Irene Spence and brothers, Billy J. Burcham and Glenn H. Burcham.

Surviving are his sons, James Gordon Burcham and Clayton Eugene Burcham both of Greensboro and Walter Lee Burcham of Southport; step son, David Bell of Greensboro; sisters, Ilene Mason and Carolyn Elliott and husband Jack; brother, Paul F. “Bud” Burcham; grandchildren, Joseph Burcham, Crystal Burcham and Wayne Burcham; great grandchildren, Bailey, Olivia & Sidney Sumner and Aubrey & Ashland Burcham.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, August 6, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Stan Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
