Mrs. Alberta "Bert" Watson Carter, 91, of Irwin County died January 4, 2006, at her residence.

Mrs. Carter was born in Coffee County on May 2, 1914, to the late Joe and Ellona Watson. She was preceded in death by her husand of 61 years, Thomas Jacob "T.J." Carter, Sr.; three children, Russell Carter, Grant Carter and Eloise Carter; six brothers and sisters, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A homemaker, she helped her husband on their farm in Osierfield. She had lived in Irwin County for many years. Mrs. Carter reared three of her grandchildren, Carolyn Kinder of Fitzgerald, Ami Carter of Albany, and Ossie Carter of Osierfield, as her own. She was a member of Union Holiness in Fitzgerald and Mt. Calvary of Dorminy Mills.

Survivors include: son, Thomas Jacob "T. J. " Carter, Jr. of Fitzgerald; daughters, Daisy Cockfield and JoAnn Morgan both of Osierfield; sisters, Georgia Mae Fuller of Clermont, FL , and Annie Ruth Jones of Easton, PA; brother, Lonnie Watson of Easton, PA; 27 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and 26 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Midway Baptist Church. Interment was in Ocilla Cemetery.
