"Former Resident Dies From Polio - Infantile paralysis claimed the life of a 19-year-old former Oil City girl Sunday night. Nellie E Aber, daughter of Mr and Mrs Carl Aber of 19 Glenview ave, died at 8:55 pm Sunday at the Myers Memorial hospital in Buffalo, NY. She had been a patient there for two days with what the hospital classified as 'bulbar polio.' The respiratory and throat organs are affected by this type of the disease, the hospital said. She was a graduate of the Oil City high school, class of 1947, and was selected that year as a member of the National Honorary society. She was also a member of the a cappella choir. Following graduation, she moved to Buffalo and made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs John Linehan. She was employed by the Hengerers department store of that city. Besides her parents, two brothers and two sisters survive: Wayne and Elsie of Oil City, Merle of Eden, NY, and Mrs John Linehan of Buffalo. The body is at the Crawford funeral home."
