American Producer. Weintraub had a career that spanned half a century in the worlds of music, film and television. After serving in the Air Force, he made his way to Hollywood where he worked in the mail room at the William Morris Agency before becoming an agent at MCA, where he worked as an assistant to Lew Wasserman. By the mid-1960s, he struck out with a couple of friends to start a management company and promoting concerts. Eventually his companies would go on to produce tours by Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Led Zeppelin and Frank Sinatra, and manage acts including the Pointer Sisters, Dolly Parton and Neil Diamond. After transitioning to the movie business, he would go on to produce a number of movies, including 'Nashville' (1975), 'Oh, God!' (1977), 'Cruising' (1980), 'Diner', (1982), 'The Karate Kid' (1984) and its sequels (1986 and 1989), 'Pure Country' (1992) and 'Ocean's Eleven' (2001). For a brief time in the 1980s, he served as chairman of United Artists. A three-time Emmy winner, among television shows, specials or made-for-TV movies he produced were 'Rocky Mountain Christmas', 'Neil Diamond: Love at the Greek', 'The Carpenters: Music, Music, Music', 'Dorothy Hamill Presents Winners', 'The Cowboy and the Ballerina', '41', 'Behind the Candelabra' and 'The Brink'. Outside of his work in entertainment, he was a major contributor to various arts organizations, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Music Center. In 2011 he penned his autobiography, 'When I Stop Talking, You'll Know I'm Dead' and the following year, he was the subject of a documentary titled 'His Way'. Weintraub is one of the only independent producers to have his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
